Cameroonian drummer Joseph “JoJo” Kuo is known globally for his extraordinary talent as a drummer and producer. JoJo has worked closely with a who’s who of African greats like Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti, Peter Gabriel, Papa Wemba, Mory Kante, Harry Belafonte, Pierre Akendengue and Richard Bona. JoJo’s creative talents are behind many African hits including Fela Kuti’s “I.T.T. (International Thief Thief)” and Mory Kante’s “Yeke Yeke,” an early World Beat dance hit which sold over a million records internationally.
JoJo is fresh from ending his contract with the Disney Animal Kingdom theme park, where he was the resident African band and special events leader since 1999. He currently lives in New York City where JoJo Kuo & The Afro-Beat Collective perform regularly at Joe’s Pub, Zinc Bar, Zebulon and other New York City locations.
